The movement also displays powerful and pleasing gold-plated gears and 21 beautiful jewels throughout its ¾ plate. The acclaimed novel follows a young man living off of his father’s success as a farmer. Despite his comfortable living, he fails to find satisfaction and meaning in his life until he joins the US army. The first half of the book takes place in Nebraska, but the book transitions to depicting events in World War I. Part of Cather’s inspiration for the protagonist was G. P. Cather, a member of the U.S. armed forces in the Great War. G. P.
